For the first you make sure that your PC connected or not connected to Internet. It's so simple if your PC is connected so you have to download the update easily. Use the antivirus for free or you buy from the vendor. If you buy from vendor I think it's better to do, because you don't checked it out every time. The antivirus was outomatically will upgrade and you can scan your PC after that.
